Finally cast this bad boy. hes sterling silver. and a one of ONE. never again will i make one and no i wont pull a mold.

had to give you guys a full turnaround to soak in all the awesome.

no this isnt your typical alien but i did get the ridges and stuff from and alien in AVP.

his mouth is hollow and he has his second mouth in there. cant see in the photos really. ill try to get a video of the ring so you can see it.

also the band is thick but i cut out 2 vs for your finger to bend into. so when you bend it your circulation doesnt get cut off. its quite comfortable to wear.

$1,250. one of one, no mold will be made of this so it cant be made again.

That is just cool. Must have been a brute to make, with all those little spaces for mold material to get stuck in after it was cast. Have you worn it yet? Any comments from people if you have?

That's simply awesome, best ring design I've ever seen, so unique its crazy............

havent made a mold. after cast theres nothin stuck in it but maybe a couple pieces of investment (what in cases the orig wax and allows there to be a negative void in the shape of the item so the metal can flow in)

and yes. If i did mold it. it would be really hard....

Then how did you cast it without a mold? Maybe I am missing something in the terminology.

Cool, i really like it!

molds are made to squirt a reproduction wax then cast. but before you have a mold you have to have the piece. molds come AFTER the ORIGINAL piece is made. when you make a wax. you spru it (put it on a wax peg in the center of a flask) invest it (pour liquid plaster around it and let it dry) then burn it out (the plaster stays, the wax burns away, now you have the negative of your piece) while its hot still (itll bust and youll loose your piece if it cools down) you cast it. place the flask in a centrifuge and spin molten metal into it. from there you have a rough casting and have to machine it down to perfection (grinding, cutting, sanding, torching, and stuff like that). THEN if i want to i can mold it for reproductions. :) emphasized some words to hopefully have it make sence.

Ok, makes sense. So you did lost wax casting the first time. Stupid question, what do you call the thing you use to cast the piece the first time? I am learning jewelry making in school so I am a little lost some times.

:jawdrop: That is the coolest piece of jewelry i think I have ever seen!! *wants*
